Overview

This trek is a best way to experience Nepal in a short period of time where you traverse through the foothills of the highest peak of the world ‘Mount Everest’. Walk less but get showered with the best treats that the nature can ever offer! This trek takes you all the way through the legendary Everest region that offers miraculous views of towering peaks, charismatic landscape, the typical Sherpa settlements and ancient monasteries.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu (1350m), and Transfer to hotel

    You will be greeted by a panoramic view of snow-capped mountain peaks sprawling down below once you fly in the sky of Kathmandu. A representative and driver from our office will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. The representative will help you check into your hotel. At the hotel you will be briefed about your daily activities.
  • Day 02: Sightseeing Tour of Boudhanath, Pashupati and Patan Durbar Square

    Kathmandu is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The city presents a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Buddhism and Western influence. There will be a guided tour to UNESCO World Heritage Sites namely Boudhanath- the largest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal, Pashupatinath- most popular Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Patan or Lalitpur (the City of Artisans), which is 5 km away from Kathmandu. At Patan Durbar Square, you will delight in the architectural wonders of Malla era. Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple and Golden Temple are the major attractions at the square.
  • Day 03: Flight to Lukla (2800m/ 27 min flight), Trek to Monjo (2850m, 5-6 hours approx.)

    A scenic flight of thirty minutes from Kathmandu brings you to Lukla airport, a cliff-hanging airport in Khumbu from where most of the trekking in Everest region begins. After meeting the crew, you head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail and then trek up to Monjo by crossing and re crossing the river on high suspension bridges.
  • Day 04: Trek to Namche (3440m) approx 6-7 hours walk

    Beyond Monjo is the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up in order to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment. You then take a steep hike to Namche, one of the most important stopovers during the trip. If the weather is clear, you get the first glimpse of Mt Everest. Namche is the main trading center in the Khumbu and has a busy Saturday market - a meeting place for the locals and the people from neighboring vicinity.
  • Day 05: Rest day in Namche / Explore around Khumjung Village and back to Namche. (3790m, 4-5 hours approx.)

    Namche is tucked away between two ridges amidst the giant peaks of the Khumbu and has an abundance of lodges, teashops and souvenir shops. It is an ideal place to spend a day, acclimatizing to the new altitude before heading off towards Tengboche. To acclimatize, you can visit Kunde village which has Hospital set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary, and Khumjung village which has a monastery known for having famous yeti scalp or take a one hour walk up to the Everest View Hotel above Namche for the sunset view of Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and Everest. There are also good views from the National Park Centre and Museum just above the town.
  • Day 06: Trek to Mende (3736m/ approx. 6 hours walk)

    After a day of exploring Namche, you will continue on your trek to Mende. Today you have to walk for around 6 hrs. You go through the jungle of pine and rhododendron, while walking up and down the trail to emerge out at Mende. At Mende, you explore the local monastery and cross the river to begin the hike up to Kunde. Kunde is another popular village in Khumbu known for its authentic Sherpa culture and the Hillary Hospital. You will explore both these landmarks and explore the village as well.
  • Day 07: Trek to Tashinga (3450m, 2-3 hours approx.)

    After the exploration at Mende, you will descend down to Tashinga. You walk through the jungle trail enjoying the peaceful trail while listening to the chirping of the wild bird and the surrounding scenery.
  • Day 08: Excursion to Tengboche (3873m, 5-6 hours approx.) and back to Tashinga

    Today you will hike up to Tengboche. The trek begins by descending to the Dudh Koshi River and cross the river and climb up the hill through the forested path to Tengboche. Tengboche is one of the most beautiful places in the Himalayas, with the most famous and biggest monastery of the Khumbu region. You will explore the area and see the monastery’s surrounding, chant with the monks and spend some time there then return back to Tashinga.
  • Day 09: Trek to Monjo (2835m, 5-6 hours approx. walk)

    From Tengboche, you descend to the bridge over Imja Khola at Phunki Tenga, where there is water driven prayer wheel, before making your way back to Namche. After a breather, you continue downstream along Dudh Koshi to reach Monjo to settle down for the night.
  • Day 10: Trek to Lukla (2800m, 5-6 hours approx.)

    Your final day's trekking in Nepal still follows the Dudh Koshi back down to Lukla. This last evening in the mountains presents an ideal opportunity for a farewell party with the Sherpa guides and porters. You get to sample some chang (local beer - a favorite drink on the mountains), do a jig to some Sherpa dancing and reflect back on a memorable trekking experience.
  • Day 11: Flight back to Kathmandu (27 min)

    You pack up early and head for the airstrip to hop a flight back to Kathmandu. On touchdown, the rest of your day is free to do your own things. You could do some last-minute shopping and packing, or even go down for a stroll in Thamel, an internationally known hub for tourists in Asia.
  • Day 12: Free day in Kathmandu

    Today you have free time, you can let go the strains of your trekking in the Himalaya. You can explore around the Heritage sites in the city, stroll down the streets of Thamel for local cultural experience, visit nearby monasteries, relax at a nearby spa centers or do some souvenir haunting in the local bazaar.
  • Day 13: Transfer to Airport and International Departure

    Transfer to airport to depart Kathmandu for onward journey.
